Just been having a browse for some stuff I need myself and I thought "how about a freebie for those who attend?". Nothing expensive and I can knock them up in no time - pace beads, or, as they're sometimes called "ranger beads". The perfect bit of kit for keeping tabs on how far you've walked, very handy for navigation, especially at night.
I can get a few packs of wooden beads, rather than modern plastic. I already have about 2 miles of paracord. Cost? Sod all really, as I'll be making several anyway, to give to you guys!

Nice touch! Aren't they sold in sex shops as well?

They're usually made of rubber, bigger and longer......or so I'm told.

Looks like you are going to have competition with Wraith!
Just throwing a suggestion - he might be better 'helping' in some way rather than pissing you off with interruptions and helpful comments ...

Already had the conversation with him. I don't want him helping out, as his knowledge seems to be based on what he's seen on TV, as well as limited time as a "REMF" in the RAF. He doesn't know anything about combat survival, he has some fieldcraft knowledge, granted, which is a different thing and not related to behind the lines operations. If his knowledge is so good, why would he want to book in for the training? If he butts in or contradicts, I'll have a quiet word on the day.
Don't forget, I'm doing a lot of research into WW2 methods for what's planned, I'd like to keep the modern stuff out of it as much as possible.

Cool beans.

Phoned the site owner today. He still has to confirm with the land owner but, it's 99% sorted now, barring cost.

Been in touch with the owners again today. They've changed insurers and are just waiting for confirmation regarding the camping (same goes for Martins Axis day at Finmere). The cost is only a tenner a head and there may be a small charge for camping, which I'm trying to avoid. Fingers crossed, I should know by the end of the week and we can get bookings opened up
.
They also seemed keen to have a full on event there at some point, if all goes well with this one. If we have problems with Close Action (camping, ramblers, forestry commision, etc), Redditch would make a decent alternative I reckon.

I suggest we open booking for this on monday (22nd). If we go for a ΓΒ£25 price point, that's enough to cover our costs to the site owners and make at least a tenner a head for the kitty, possibly ΓΒ£15. I'm thinking that with all of the upcoming games and another training day, we should be taking money sooner, rather than later.

Fine by me, less than the three months we normally do anyway.

Ok. Booking thread up!

Yep. I'll set up the accounts. When are we opening booking for Jedburgh?

On the booking thread we have said beginning of April.

Oh FFS, not with it at all at the moment. Sorry.

Well, I'm totally underwhelmed by the repsonse to the booking thread!

Two bookings have come in.
Steiner and Neill 'effing' Blume.
Feck me.

Thank f**k for that! I was afraid of looking a total tit and having noone book for it! We can handle Blume. For starters, he won't be in the situation where he can't take his hits!

OK, only four bookings so far.
John Birchett and Scott Hawkins have also signed up.
We perhaps need to push this more on the open forum.
Is it also worth promoting on the home page? It currently has Boryszyn as our next game.
S

I'll not be updating the web site as I will be building a new one soon and I don't have time to faff at the moment.
Now Freshman is out of the way player will be looking ahead so I expect things will start happening. I think it possibly needs to have a bit more emphasis on appealing to any player, not just those that want to be Jeds (or attending the event even). It does mention this in the text but possibly could do with a bit more emphasis?

We don't need (nor want!) masses of players for this. Any more than 15 and it will not work (15 is pushing it a bit!).
